"Empirical research on design management remains scant in developing nations provoking not only a stanch on its understanding; but making presumptions about its standardized use. This paper advances on the role and use of design management in the ground of entrepreneurship within small Mexican technology-based enterprises in new technological industries. An exploratory study was considered to build a theory and test it within the context of study. Three longitudinal cases were used in a pre-experiment to analyze design interventions during the development of technological innovations. Findings exhibit that design management (specializations) play a leading resource role, as it assists entrepreneurs/innovators to become aware of their business condition, make-decisions in risky and uncertain environments, deploy tangible/intangible resources, trigger innovative thinking, assimilate and transform information it into knowledge, and manage cycles of innovation."
