Fashion retailing exhibits a high degree of environmental velocity (McCarthy, Lawrence, Wixted, and Gordon, which necessitates enhanced design capabilities (Cachon and Swinney), particularly where retailers have adopted private-label/own-brand strategies (McColl and Moore).
