Chris Hancock, Systems Manager, DMI
Designers have always been known for being able to see the forest, not just the trees-to excel at connecting the dots. Chris Hancock, DMI's systems manager, sees this era of social networks as a much bigger example of connecting the dots - only now the dots are people. He points out that although there is no one-size-fits-all formula for a good corporate social media strategy, design leaders are well-placed not only to visualize innovative outcomes but also to imagine a methodology that will achieve those outcomes. Designers who become proficient with the dialogue and tools of social media will be an asset to their firms - and will benefit personally, as well as professionally. For those teetering on the brink of exploring business use of these networks, Hancock includes a primer that covers some of the basics.
